Introducing Kathi Krause of Dirt Rock n Root Training

Kathi Krause started her cycling career on the velodrome and worked her way through criteriums, road racing, cyclocross and cross country before finding her way to the Pro Downhill mountain bike circuit. During her 10-year pro career, Kathi raced for various factory teams including Mountain Cycle, Avalanche Downhil Racing and Arrow Racing. During that time, she accumulated many laurels including winning the prestigious Kamikaze Downhill race in 2004. Since retiring from racing at the pro level in 2008, Kathi has participated in the Megavalanche Downhill in Alp d’Huez, France, and the occasional local cross country race.

With three Masters World Downhill Championships, five Masters National Downhill Championships, and 25 years of racing behind her, Kathi acquired her instructor certification and started Dirt Rock n Root Training in 2011. Since then, she has coached at cycling camps and clinics up and down the East Coast – including Whiteface Mountain, Plattekill Bike Park, Mountain Creek Bike Park, Snowshoe Mountain Bike Park, Highland Mountain Bike Park's Women's Freeride Festival, and Cranx Indoor Bike Park.

One of DRRT’s main objectives is to help bring more women into mountain biking and to promote mountain biking as a lifetime sport.  Kathi is available for coaching cycling camps, not only for women, but also for men, kids and teams. When not coaching, you can find Kathi riding the downhill at whatever mountain she is near at the time.
